Warren, it is a National Park, so I doubt if Scruffy will be welcome. But in the greater Richtersveld, there are camps at Kuboes and I think lekkersing that would not be a problem. Try to contact Richtersveld tourism, I am sure there are places to camp outside of the Park.

A good friend returned last week from the Richtersveld, he is a frequent visitor. The drought is still quite severe with very few Kokerbome left, and he did not see a single Halfmens. They had some rain, so the annuals make up for sandness at the moment.

He did mention that the roads leading to the Park are the worst it has ever been, and they were always badly corrugated. But that it is worth a visit, for sure.

A camp outside Richters on the orange somewhere -- do some fishing perhaps a last ever river raft who knows & take it from there --- Always day visit & hide Scruffy in a pet  transporter box hehehe --

The tourism office in Springbok would be good for info. We once booked the 4x4 trail, starting there and runs along the river to Pella. unfortunately we ran out if time and couldn't fit it in. From what I know, it is not a severe off-road route, bu rather a 2 track dirt road navigation challenge. was very cheap to book.

If you passport is in order, cross at Vioolsdrift and camp at Bundi River Rafters and do the 4 day Trip. Worth every cent, last did it in 2018 if you can remember the photos. From there, you can follow the river and cross into the Richtersveld with the pontoon at Sendelinsdrift. There are some private camps next to the river as well along the way.

Check your maps, there is a lot to do up there. Voorspoed.
