o I promised to post on how to break down a 5x5 army tent and get it packed up into an unbelievably small space....
A not so funny thing about tents.... If you don’t fold them right... The amount of space you need to pack them away multiplies by 4 with every wrong move you make.... By the time you’r finished, you need an unbelievably amount more space....
And don’t try to fix it half way through... That just leads to gill-en-skeeu—en-vloek.... Inne vrek-warm-vroe-oggend-son... NOGAL.....
Dis hoekom tent se sake altyd so bloomin klein is....
Dis mos die sak se skuld... NE!
Of Hy’s te bloomin klein gemaak en die vervaardiger sny koste.... Of.... (En hangende af van hoeveel Klippies voorige-aand) die blerry sak het nat gewoord en gekrimp!
NE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nou ja.... Daar’s n trick wat ek sal aan die einde van die pos plaas. Soos die oorspronklike pos, it’s got nothing to do with the tent it’s self, That’s just being used to give the “trick” street-cred....
OK.....
STEP 1
Lay the tent out flat... Take off your plakkies / tekkies / stewels and walk kaal-poot / kouse on the tent....
STEP 2Fold sides A & B to the middle, twist the cone round itself to get it down
STEP 3Fold sides C & D to the middle
STEP 4 Fold the tent in half
STEP 5Fold it long-ways to the middle
STEP 6MOERSE IMPORTANT draai die hele spul ondersteboe
STEP 7 Fold the tent back on itself
STEP 9 Set the bag ready behind the tent. Watch this one... DON'T CARRY THE TENT TO THE BAG... CARRY THE BAG TO THE TENT.....If you pick the now beautifully folded tent up and struus-Bob the ruddy thing will unfold itself.. Soos jy stap, onrafel die ding)...........danisdit................ Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr begin van voor..... (Been THERE done THAT... Bought the T shirt)
STEP 10 Flip the tent over into the bag...
STEP 11 Zip the bag closed
An unbelievably small space for 25 sq m of dik army canvas.. NE!
Ok so what’s the trick?
Take bloomin plenty photos when you do it right the first time so that you can remember.... WHAT? you think I'm so clever I can actually REMEMBER all of that? HA-HA... Not a chance...
Hehehehe..........
Oh and THAT little trick my (FFF's) fine forum friends, works just as well with them ruddy pop-up shelters that pop-up so bloomin quickly and you spend the rest of the day getting back into three circles and back into that Grrrrrrrrrr bag!.... (I do a Video-clip) as well as these-days complicated caravan-side-tent-pole-structures.... (watter donnerse paal gaan waar... Ek's klaar maar staan met drie paale nog inni hand)!!!!
NE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hehehehehe... Hope my little TRICK helps sombody...
ANDRE SMIT: Hi Warren,
I agree 100% with your way of taking down and folding the tent.
In 40 years in the Army one do get some exercise in doing this but also a lot of opportunities to share your experiences with new recruits.
Most important fact is to get everything as smooth as possible and even to flatten it more by stepping on it after every fold.
Nothing must end up on something else to form a thicker "bundle" than necessary.
Thanks for sharing -- I've got an interesting method of folding the chopper tent -- ''Bowtent" but without phodie's impossible to explain.
