Ayone out there got camping related hobbies?
Well I've got 2...
Collecting & reabilitating tents & portable braais
Now I must have all manner of portable braais, from THE CUBE to vintage fold-away's...
All in all I must have at least 15 of them packed away in my store-room and 3 currently undergoing re-abilitation....
Why Braais? haven't a clue.... Just that when I spot a portable braai carcass so off-handedly turfed into the steel scrap bin, my heart goes out to it... shame what a sad end to so many happy times... So I whip it out (preferably without paying for it) and cart it off home....
Then comes looking for a suitable grid... drilling for a self-tapper here a bit of sheetmetal there... A bunch of legs from my collection... Fix the wheels on that one can of High heat spray and see? there goes another braai.... Re-abilitated, ready for use...
An off shoot is camp cookers..... I'm a sucker for those....
Find-em...........Fix-em..........Forget I ever got em............. Hehehe
Anyhow the same for tents.... from 40 year old 2 / 3 man hiking tents to family sized tents...
When I see them at the flea markets / second-hand shops I just gotta give it a good home....
Then it's fix up ropes sort out poles do this do that and VIOLA! another tent saved from the scrap-heap....
So that's my camping hobbies... Anyone else?

Nee sowaar, ek het nie 'n camping hobby nie. Kan nie aan een dink nie, behalwe dat die hele kampding my hobby is.
Warren, where do you store all these rescued articles? You must have loads by now.
Voortrekker, jou hobby vat so baie van jou tyd, jy sal dalk nie meer tyd hê om 'n tent peg in te slaan nie. :-)

Ok so this is actually a photo try-out... And if it works, I'll post a few more of my braai's & cookers and other camping hobby things...
I got this handsome fella in the scrap bin on Saturday.
Shame he was missing his grid, but I had one lying about that needs to be cut a bit shorter and flat-bar welded along the edges.
Here he's back together with his legs and wheels.... a bit of a rub / some spray paint and lookie there, a jolly good braai for nothing....
Just you trot along to your local camping supply shop and see how much this fella costs..
