Hydrostatic Head,we call HH in short.Your camping Tent’s HH rate is a great fundamental fact how much your tent is water resistance.Truly to say,Tent has waterproof coating and made of fabric.
Hydrostatic head rating represents us a clear concept how much water resistance capacity your camping tent’s fabric has to protect you from water not penetrating it.
HH value measured in millimetres(mm).
If you see your purchased new camping tent’s Hydrostatic Head score is 1000 mm,that’s meaning, the Tent’s fabric has capacity to protect you in the tent from the water can enter into it unless more than a 1000 mm water column in height stores on your tent during rainfall.
When More than 1000 mm water column in height is on your tent, the Tent has no guarantee that it’ll can resist.
Now the fact is, which HH rating of your camping Tent will be perfect with which rainfall kinds, according to camping weather you going to do.
Suppose,You are in camping time, suddenly raining began but not heavy rather light. So,Using 1000 mm HH rating camping tent will be waterproof enough for protecting you in that light rainfall.
But if rain is heavier,2000 mm HH rating camping tent will be perfect with the heavier water pressure which your Tent’ll face due to heavier rainfall.
Now if have to say, HH rating above 2000 mm Tent will be suitable when your camping experience facing windy weather besides heavier rainfall.
So when going to choose the camping tent, considering about Hydrostatic Head (HH) rating of your going to purchase Tent, is also a very essential factor, need to be careful about it,too.
Don't be too concerned about…
Don't be too concerned about HH for your December excursion in the arid areas Warren !! If you do end up in a leaking tent, you will feel special.

A bit of skew perception
Hello Warren
Based on the assumption that your tent is absolutely flat, then HH make sense.
I would rather prefer a rating based on hours exposure of a wetted tent, because tents are designed that water run of [f] it.
