Jurgens Ci daarmee heen ?

Brackenfell, Weskaap
Submitted by Len Loader on

My kommentaar :

So that the caravan industry can be re-born, with lots of choice and quality products....... Like in the good old days.....

Perhaps if Godfry had played the neither friend or foe game and actually reported on the crap that CI have, for many years now been foisting on what amounts to a captive market, Jurgens / CI / Imperial  MIGHT have been worth saving...

Yes I know you guy's don't like that, but there it is.... My point of view

Warren, as you may have expected, I differ from your view in that it is incorrect to state "the crap that CI have, for many years " provided.  Over years I personally have had excellent products from the former Ci group as well as the later JurgensCi group, including my present Jurgens Exclusive. I do, however, agree that serious quality problems arose in the last view years and that may be the reason why Imperial decided to leave the ship.

I shall be impressed if the new owners can turn the company back into a successful caravan manufacturer as the competition will ensure a vast range of caravans available to choose from.

Ek het so drie maande terug my nuwe tent van Jurgens/ Howling Moon ontvang.

As hy by sy nuut opgeboude besigheid kwaliteit werk sou verskaf, sal hy mos dieselfde doen by Jurgens.

Hi Len..

There is no way anybody’s going to convince me that it is justifiable to spend, Near as dammit is to swearing one half a million on a caravan.

That’s one part of the overall problem.

Another aspect of the problem is, that for that half a million the public should be getting immeasurably better quality than’s been the case.

In my opinion what has actually transpired is the caravan industry went into a decline, Jurgens arrogantly opted to maintain current infrastructure / overheads, to maintain their cost structure in a declining market, prices escalated the consumer had no alternatives and the cycle continued with the consumer hamstrung by lack of competition and rising prices.

Mix into that, a culture of cost cutting and pressure to produce products cheaper so as to maintain Jurgens’s bottom line, we have arrived where we are today.

Have you seen the rubbish that has been recently launched....  VIS the Gypsey “light”? and for that we are expected to around pay a quarter million rand???.... A heck of a lot more if it’s financed BTW...

Had Jurgen’s re-structured, cut overheads, kept prices reasonable, preserved their reputation, things might have been very different.

Now, we the consumers have to live with every tom dick & harry caravan & camping trailer’s hugely inflated prices that are ridiculous in context for what we are getting.... Dammit, at the end of the day, a caravan is nothing but a box on wheels, and it costs the same as a middle income house!

And of course, COL feeding the up and coming consumer how wonderful the stuff is....

And of course, Godfry’s famous statement:- Caravanning is no longer a cheap holiday for the civil servant, it has become a “lifestyle”choice. Lifestyle = exclusivity, exclusivity = expensive...

Everything just went downhill from then on...Prices across all the products, from tables to kettles, if it was camping related the price rocketed through the roof.

For example... A camping stretcher / mattress cost’s more than a normal domestic bed! How the hell do you justify that?

Ok, so let’s look at me the individual.... Firstly I’m not in the market for a caravan, probably never will be. Also I’m not in the market for any camping gear. I’ve already got so much I never need to buy another thing.

So why does this bother me so much?

So here’s why. The would-be up and coming caravanner, looks at the cost, The one half million for a van, / the vehicle / the gear / the insurance / the cost utilisation ratio / price of accommodation and says to hell with that, 2 families club in and rent a chalet.....

And there you have it...................

BOOM to many of that and resorts sell out,  = less and less camping resorts, so the ones that remain can push up their costs, and the cycle continues....

It cannot be refuted, that’s already what’s happening. So many parks have already closed their doors, it may soon reach a tipping point...

See Godfry,/ COL,  pandering to the whim of his master whip (the advertising cheque at month’s end from Jurgen’s),  and the sheer arrogance of Jurgen’s have both construed to make, what SHOULD be a cost effective <cheap if you will> holiday for civil servants into an activity that’s fast disappearing .

AND THAT’S HOW I’M BEING AFFECTED.

It’s not that I take pleasure in seeing a business face the wall, (as has been said elsewhere) Not at all. The consequences are terrible for everyone.

What I want to see happen, is what needs to happen if the industry and our pastime is to be sustainable.

The business model has to dramatically change, with build quality; value for money; well designed products again becoming the norm, AS WAS THE CASE WHEN Jurgen’s was still Jurgen’s

BUT, With the advent of that awful Gypsey lite, I really don’t see that happening, so for all the damage they have done, as far as I’m concerned, both COL & Jurgen’s must simply disappear which will give the industry a chance to be rejuvenated...

Ok nou kan julle my uitkak

Warren, with the statement above, het jy gesien hoeveel line-up's is daar vir daai R½ mil + karavane ?

0

Hi Willem...

There are many line-up's, but that still does not make it justifiable.

As I see it, everybody's jumped the prices up to what people have come to expect....

Does not make it Justifiable..............

If we as the consumer realised the difference between justifiabe and extortion and stopped just hauling plenty R's watch waht will happen..

Look, Granted, for those who DO have the resources it's not an issue, Go, buy a beautiful, luxurous van and enjoy, I'm not envious, jealous or in anyway in awe of that.

But <as I see it> the ordinary blokes are just being ripped.

" Nope................. Ci must go"

Warren, I am not on a mission to convince anyone, I merely stated my opinion that I hope the new owners can turn JurgensCi into a caravan manufacturer that becomes a name in the caravan industry again to be noted of as before.

Although we differ, I respect your opinion.
