Rather nice, after a braai & getting a fire going, I felt ripe for a snooze, so I closed my door, climbed into bed, and woke up with this at my spot.... That was jolly nice of somebody ! So I put it inside and WOW it looks great
LATE AFTERNOON ONE PERSON & ONE DOG BRAAI

WOW! LOOK WHAT SOMEBODY LEFT ME AT MY FIRE PIT

REALLY NICE INSIDE - GONNA KEEP IT AS A CAMPING LIGHT (FLASH)

Dirty braai truick
Hi sleep
Yes it is a nice, well constructed braai, and meets all 4 of my criteria for what I deem to be a well designed braai.
1) The height of the grid must be adjustable
2) The coals must be protected from the wind
3) Must pack up small - THIS ONE IS 400 * 400 * 20mm lekker dun !
(4) Be off the ground
I bought it some years ago at die Blou-meul in Alberton, but they no longer have any, and had a rip-stop canvas bag made for it, and I keep my whole “braai-kit" packed inside the braai: - Tongs / firelighters / hand spade / cloth & a wire brush.
To lift it off the ground, (you don’t want to burn any grass in the campground) in each corner I welded M20 nuts on the underside of the base & used 4 M20 carriage bolts as legs.
To shield the coals / flame I had 3 by 1mm galvanised plates cut so that they hook in and shield the flame.
But did you see my “trick”?
I put a layer of sand into the base --- Then make the fire on-top of the sand. To clean the braai I just throw away the sand, and it stops the heat from damaging the coal tray because the sand acts as a heat shield --- That’s why that braai has lasted so long ----![]()
ADJUSTABLE GRID (IT IS ON THE LOWER HEIGHT)

MY BRAAI KIT THAT I KEEP IN THE BRAAI

Very nice Warren I like the idea of the sand, the ash also acts as a alkaline medium to the soil![]()
