Hehehehe... getting my own back on my son and spending my sons erf-geld on the quiet?

Doing what all good parents should be doing.... Making shure they will have a roof over their heads when I pack up?

The current spread sheet tents and shelters shows I have 20...  This covers from one person Bivy’s to family tents, the smallest is my 1970’s border war personal shelter <as was at Mabaleliklieg> and the biggest is my 5x5 army tent.

Actually no... It’s rather like my tiny collection of camp cookers, I just like them. Why? I haven’t got a cooking clue... And so I gather them... Some I’ve used, some, I will still get round to using, and other’s quite frankly are just for show...

Kinda gives me something “camping” to do when I’m not camping, and it gives me a wealth of background knowledge, about what’s good and bad design and so on.

Of particular interest are hiking – backpacking ridge tents, and how these tents have evolved from around the mid 1960’s until present time. And have examples of Marachal / sea king / Backpacker Kestrel  and Campmaster

Some of these are part of “theme” pitches I’ve put or am putting together, such as the personnel shelter used at Maba. These “theme pitches” are: -

A 1960- 1970 Retro – vintage “how we used to hike” / young couple’s pitch / a family pitch (using a Sunseeker Chalet tent)

The bush shelter (you know) and a Military base camp bungalow ready for inspection.... (this one’s far from complete, but I do have the tent)...

But yes, it’s like a treasure hunt every time I go to a pawn shop, a flea market or a junk auction... Alway’s on the lookout for a piece of gear or something to put with one of these theme pitches....

Loads and loads of fun when I spot “just the right thing”......

Na aanleiding van kommentaar op n ander draad dink ek terug aan die tyd dat amper elke 3 de voertuig n burgerband radio in gehad het.

Die man was was oppad huistoe toe hy op die radio roep vir " n maatjie vir n praatjie" 

Hy tel toe n geselsie op met n vrou en begin lekker met haar gesels.

Later vra hy haar vir haar adres want hy wil gou daar n draai gaan maak.

Toe sy haar adres vir hom gee is dit toe sy eie vrou.

Hehehehe, was dit nie CB's genoem nie.?
