Dis weer daai tyd vanni jaar --- Ok, Ok n'maand of twee of drie vroeg maar ek begin al December se vakansie te beoog....
So for me it’s been 10 + years since I’ve seen the sea, (it just hasn't interested me) and I think it’s time again, just one last time before I depart this spaceship earth.
So I’m looking to do from St Lucia to Port Shepstone without booking into a resort --- Ok I might just decide for 1 night to book in at at Umtentwenie.
I might just look around at a few Boer war battle sights along the way ----
Sounds inviting – bathing in the sea / living on the road, ----- Just me & my dog
Way to go. I had one or two…
Way to go.
I had one or two such "holidays" in my VW Camper when i was still young and single.
Suggested a "go with the flow" holiday with no pre-bookings to my wife a few times but it was always rejected.
Enjoy!

Toe ek nog jonk, vris en brand arm was
What I used to do, was jump on my bike after work (I was an apprentice at SAA (Jan Smuts) and haul butt down to Durbs, dropping off 2x5 tins of petrol hidden under a culvert at Van Reenin (Because garages were closed on Sundays) That I had in saddlebags ... Get to Durbs... Drop off my stuff in the lockers at the train station & Jol the whole night in the clubs.
Come morning I went to the "One-Rander" A shop where everything cost under R1 ... Like an egg was (I think) 15c and so on, make up breakfast, go to the beach hire an umbrella and a lounger & go to sleep --- wash off in the surf --- back to the “one rander” lunch ---- repeat ---
Jol Sat night and climb back n the bike around lunch time on Sunday & haul ass back to JHB, re-fuelling with my stash at Van reenin.
Long weekends I used to sleep on Maiden warf, behind my bike and the roll-up doors in the warehouse entrances --- Spent many happy hours picking my way along the dollosse in the harbour -----
Good times....
The Chinese have a saying…
The Chinese have a saying that goes something like "never go back to a house you left" meaning, dont dwell in the past.
BUT, it is not possible, our past was glamorous compared to toady.
We used to travel from Allanridge (Freestate) to Dubs or Margate every last weekend of the month. Those days sleeping in a car was totally safe. Spending money on flats or chalets were a waste and better spend on a jol.
