Werk baie goed vir my.

Ek ken toevalig daai…
Winch
Morning Leeu,
Jammer, ek gaan Engels skryf....
I'd like to throw a log on this fire...
For me, its not about looks, it's about strength.... Under the skin strength...
So, here is the log....................How secure is he winch attached to the vehicle?
Obviously, but not alway's understood and applied, a winch is only as strong as the weakest link.
It's disasterous to have EG an 8000Lb winch, which with the use of snatch pullies can be easily upped to 16000Lb's / 12000Lb's and surprise surprise the winch tears away because one of the mechanical "links" cannot cope with that kind of force.
Because a winch is normally attached to the vehicle over two chassie members, this means there is either a pulling force of 4000Lb per side, or when multiplying the capacity of the winch with snach pullies that means 8000Lb per side and even 12000Lb per side if you treble-line with 2 snach pullies
Here are a few of the more common things that can cause catastrophic failures that can occur and cause huge expense / fatalities
ALL (please consider this... (all) attachment bolts & nuts: -
What is the total diameter of the mounting bolts per side? Rule of thumb a minimum of 20mm per side = 2 bolts of not less than 10mm per side
Are they high tensile? There should be an 8.8 embossed on the head. Do not use stainless steel bolts. The tensile strength is much lower. Obviously the nuts must also be high tensile.
Have they been torqued correctly? A good deal of the “holding power” of a bolt is achieved through friction. If the bolt is under torqued, you will not have sufficient friction. If it is over torqued, the bolt could be weakened by stretching it beyond its limit of elasticity.
Mounting to the vehicle: -
Has the winch been linked directly to the chassis (and not to the existing bumper for example)
Have the mounting bolts been put through a rectangular box section (usual chassis construction) without bracing between the inside walls of the box section? Without internal bracing, the box section will just collapse under the bolt-torque-force, and you will not achieve the correct holding force
Has the wall thickness of the chassis member through which the mounting bolts have been put been augmented? (Thickened up) If not, the bolts may simply tear out of the 1,5 – 2.0mm wall thickness of the chassis. Again rule of thumb = 10mm per side... That's 5mm plate welded to the each side of both chassie members
Fabrication of the winch mount
Is it strong enough? not only thickness of the materials used, but the quality and substantiveness of the welding. There must be good welds of sufficient length.
Lastly
Sorry, your pic does not detail enough. Visually, I would say, by placing the winch box in frount of the nudge bar you have sacrificed some of your approach (to an incline) angle & likewise your nose down clearance on a decline, but each of us have different requirements so that may not be of importance to you.
This is not intended to critisise in any way, In all likey-hood you have considered all the aspects and more.
because it is unusual to leave the nudge bar in-situe, I'm on thin ice, and assuming that you have done the mount yourself, and I only want to perhaps prevent you from having a massive problem at some stage....
Here are some pics of my winch / snatch mountings to give you an idea.....
jammer virri laaaaaang pos, Arrie Voortrekker Johann en KIE gaan my weer met n baseball-bat orri kop klap..... SIGH......

Nico Leeu s'n?

Lyk vir my soos 'n winch…

Kommuniste? Noord Korea?
Willie Winch.
Hi Jozi, thanks man. I done everything right what you worrie about. The hardbody has two tow brackets directly welded onto the chassis. The bumper brackets carry nothing, only the Nudge bar is used to centre guide the winch. This setup already help me two times out of trouble. If you are maybe near Pretoria you are welcome to come and look for yourself.
Warren, you will notice that some people do their home work before they tackle a job, I can assure you anything that Leeu Temmer does is of a very high standard and thought through.
Now now Waren, was that…
Now now Waren, was that really necessary for such a looooonnnnggg drawn out report / lecture / manual???
