I posted this picture of Grumbles having a chew down on her bone --- That bone is the hip bone (the whole bone)

I only give my dogs (Scruffy as well) BIG bones, Either the hip bone or the femur bone, sliced lengthways through the middle then cut in half --- So they can get at the marrow....
Why? well with those round bones one get's at the supermarket it is very easy for the dogs teeth to jam in the hole -- Dogs jaws are much like a crocodile VIS they can bite hard but not so strong opening the jaw.
If the teeth jam through the hole in the middle of the bone and you are not there -- it can become a major thing for the dog -- At best it's going to be hell on wheels to unstick the teeth.
I usually have three femur's cut like that, that's 12 bones and throw them all out at the same time --- prevents fighting -----

Tiny scruffy & her bone --- You wanna se that tiny rat-bag of a dog carry that humoungous bone --- and carry it she does !---

And for my troubles I get this

Eek! Lucky you were there
Thanks Wildehond, and that's why I posted, I think it's important for people to know about the dangers of those "marrow bones" that you get at P&P ETC
Had a damn good laugh at Scruffy last night ---- Had 1 slice of pitza over from Sunday, so I gave it to her (she was at my door, and the Swiss shepherd / Grumbles & Gooly-Gone running up the drive)
In a flash, she whipped as much of the pitza slice into her mouth, and with bits still not quite in, run under the Swiss shepherd, around Grumbles past Gooly-Gone and hoovered as much of the toppings off the pitza --- By the time the other three realisd "no more but Scruffy's got" there was net mooi boggerall left -- just dry crust !
The clever is strong with that one !
Daai been is grootttt
Daai isse moese been virrie hond Warren hy kou seker nou nog aan dit lekke lekke

No bones
I stopped giving Gypsy and Cortez (our Jack Russells) bones after Gypsy got one stuck in her throat. It wasn’t a chicken bone, but one from those bags of bones bought from PnP’s butcher. By the way; I managed to get the bone out by lifting her by her back legs and giving her a few light shakes while she had her front feet on the ground. Google gave me the idea, which I tried before rushing to the vet. The latter told me during another visit for cleaning their teeth, that those hooves they sell are better for the dogs’ teeth and not dangerous at all.
