Nuwe 4x4 entoesias

Kaapstad
Submitted by outdoormaster on

Enige advies sal welkom wees.

Hallo outdoormaster en welkom by kampforum smiley

Ek dink!

Welcome to this neck of the woods, look foreward to lotsa posts.

Ok One / two (or three) other question you should also ask of yourself are: -

"Where do you want to go"?   Local (including Zim / Namibia / Botswana) an off-road trailer is fine..... Deeper than that, a bush trailer could become a bit of a liability.

FUEL...... add 30 % more at the same speed if you where not towing...

USE.... Is the vehicle dedicated for recreational use? are you going to do 4x4 trails locally?... If yes then the self sufficient route may complicate things.

Yip it's a complicated choice..... Depends on your budget.... personally I'd say get the best vehicle for your money first.... Then kit it out.... Then see if you need a trailer.... Could land up saving you lot's..

Baie welkom hier.

Nou moet ek hardloop, daai GWM is hier oor n paar dae!

Outdoorsman, when it comes to vehicles, don't listen to this lot, You'll drive yourself bonkers, and probibly land up with a jolly Unimog....

Then when you do get stuck in the bush, you'll wake up to the reality of.... Now who the heck's going to get me out.....

Not saying anything.... Nothing at all...... But after some 40 years....

Right up there...... Landrover (Series to Discovery II ONLY) and Gelandewagen (in that order)

Landrover might be always breaking down, but you can fix it... I've even heard tell of a bush repair where one whole piston was removed and the thing puttering on on three cylinders...

Besides no matter what the hell you plak on a Landy...Maaan it looks so darn cool...

Gelandewagen might not break down but it sure will break your bank balance

Somewhere down there there's Land Cruiser... nothing else from them, only Cruiser...

Not the new ones mind... They are alcholocs and will drink you into the poor house... No, get the old 'grensvegter' one....

Then right down there there's ........... Well all the rest..... take your pick...

Hummer you can' t use, it's too wide... FJ.. The windows areso small you cant see what's going on... Prado is just waaaay to expensive to get a scratch (heaven forbid a ding).....

Just to mention a few.....

Me I like Mahindra... Built like a 1930's ablution-block square and no frills, just does the job...

Tuna's... Like Tuna... Swim around very fast and look pretty... But have the reputation of chucking trailers and caravans over on the road.... There's quite mumblings from the vervaardiger that the've fixed the problem that they never had in the first place...

Ford... Well they DO make good braai's I hear..... (wonder if I should add one to my collection of braai's and cookers) Mmmmmm

Underneath that lot, way way down there, in death wobble land, there's Jeep....  Now I ain't going to go on and on about that, so go to aunty Google and look-up Jeep death wobble, because you won't believe it if I told you....

Now pull up your favorite camp chair, grab a frostie (or 6), a whole wack of pop-corn, cause hier kom-groot-fight....
